Monsters In My Head (about me)
“Art gives us the motions of the human soul in all their depth and variety. But the form, the measure and rhythm, of these motions is not comparable to any single state of emotion. What we feel in art is not a simple or single emotional quality. It is the dynamic process of life itself.” ~ Ernst Cassirer
Who Is The Audio Taco?
My name is Tina Lok. i love music and it plays such a significant role in my life that i blog about it. My first concert was when i was 15 and it was this band called Garbage. Since then, I have gone to many more shows and have never taken it for granted. Sometimes i go to two shows in one night. Sometimes i go to shows 5 nights a week. I’ve recently transplanted to Los Angeles because of the music scene. I was a contributor to Interlude Magazine. I enjoy reading, traveling, music and art house cinema. I’m also looking to “meet” other bloggers, friends that want to discuss music, and interesting people so just email me if you want to do a link exchange!
I can be reached at: audiotaco [at sign] gmail.com for constructive criticism, comments, and recommendations.

Why is this site called The Audio Taco?
When I was trying to come up with edgy names for a blog, I discovered that every web domain I came up with was taken. The naming of this blog coincided with a fateful night after a show when one of my best friends and went on a mission to search for the Choco Taco. The ice cream treat proved to be as elusive as the hunt for Bigfoot or Unicorns because every liquor store, taco bell, and mini mart we went to did not carry the ice cream taco. Finally, we stumbled upon the mecca of ice cream novelties in a seedy liquor store aptly named “Liquor Store”. Thus, the Audio Taco was born. I also see the taco as a metaphor for the divergent music scenes of San Diego (where I’m from) and Los Angeles. Somewhere near O.C., the music and the style of mexican food changes. Plus, who doesn’t like tacos?!
I created this place for friends who have a mutual love for music and hope to draw awareness to artists that create it. Please support independent artists by going to see live shows, buying merch, etc. I don’t try to talk about all the music that is out there today because there are plenty of other blogs that do a better job than me. So, chances are I’m only going to talk about music that i like and want to share with others. This space also serves to document my musical experiences.

I enjoyed your write up on Missy Higgin’s performance. I saw her in Denver and was most definitly blown away. Like yourself, I have been a fan for years so this was a highly anticipated showing. I also went to the borders performance but not many people showed up for it. Have you heard of Misty Odell? She opened for Missy and is from LA. She was great as well. I heard of her music through missy. Well just thought I would share my appreciation of missy’s music with you.

PS Even though she deserves to get huge in the US I selfishly wishes she doesn’t so us fans can continue to enjoy her at intimate little venues!
found your site randomly, love the pictures. i always go to shows but i can never take decent pictures. just wondering what kind of lens you’re using? thanks
Informative, engaging blog. You’ve provided some leads for new music. Thanks.
