The Metric show was completely sold out. I never realized how popular they have been getting. LA shows tend to sell out but the crowds are always so so. However, for Metric they were really great. Everyone was really into it, energetic, moved, and most importantly sang along. Seeing as how the Myspace Hey Play This! felt like an unplugged performance, the Fonda show was a rock show. I will admit that i have a huge crush on Emily Haines and James Shaw (guitarist, producer, etc). I saw Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton in January and was completely blown away but her talent. She is such a versatile performer and has a beautiful voice. For her to go from soft piano songs to rock siren blows my mind. Because the crowd was so great, Metric really used the crowd participation aspect of the show on the track “Stadium of Love”.

partial set list in no particular order :

Freddie
Hooks
Dead Disco
Poster of a Girl
Empty (i was really happy they played this since it was my fav. track off of Live It Out)
Monster Hospital
Rock Me Now
Combat Baby
Hustle Rose (the crowd went wild for this)
Hand$hake$
Twilight
Standing In Line (crowd participation)

Metric is one of the best rock shows i have seen in awhile- great presence, the sound is awesome, and they are extremely talented. i hung out after the show hoping to meet the band. After about 30 min. Josh and James came out but Joules and Emily had left. Emily had a DJ gig up the street for the after party.
